In today’s society virtually everyone has a pet. Whether it is bouncy puppy, a fluffy kitten, or even a scurrying hamster people love their animals. Now there are people that are just considering the adoption or purchase of their first pet and need to know a few things before getting started. The most important thing to keep in mind is the care taking of your animal. You need to know the best ways in which to administer pet care to your new friend.
The first thing to consider is how to feed your pet. Most people don’t have a clue and because of negligence they end up either under feeding (starving their pet) or over feeding their animal and making its like harder than need be. We have all seen those super thin dogs tied up to a tree in someone’s back yard. If you are person that is into faddy things and easily gets side tracked or bored of things in your life, I encourage you to not get a pet. Don’t get one until a later time in life where you are able to focus and care for an animal better. Also don’t be like those people that just give their cat or dog all the food it wants. Especially, don’t give the animal table scraps. The animal can easily become over weight since it is difficult for house pets to get an adequate amount of exercise. Learn what your pet needs as far as pet food goes and give it a recommended portion daily.
Next is housing for your new friend, whether you get a bird, fish, cat or dog, the animal is going to need a place to consider its home. Birds and fish are easy, and cats generally go where they want and more or less take care of themselves. But dogs need to have a place they identify as their “spot” whether it’s a small area in front of the fireplace or a nicely built dog house on the back porch, a dog needs its own place. Don’t get a dog and put it in a small caged pen in the backyard with no shelter. Some people do this without any thought of what the dog goes through being exposed to the sun and rain constantly. Treat your pet how you would want to be treated and your new friend will be just fine.
The last thing you need to think about for taking care of your pet, is to make sure it gets enough exercise. Because of the refined foods humans and pets both alike have to eat in our modern world, exercise is more important than ever for both pet and pet owner. People don’t generally want to become fat and overweight, the same is true about pets. Make sure your pet, especially larger animals like dogs, get out and are able to run or swim every day. You can also look for special fitness food for your particular pet, but normally they won’t like the taste of it, and the
price is never as cheap as regular refined pet food. Just buy normal pet food and concentrate on getting your pet out and about enough to burn any extra calories.
If you concentrate on these three animal care activities you will have a long and happy relationship with your furry friend.
